Debra Haaland is an American attorney and politician elected to the U.S. Representative for New Mexico's 1st congressional district in 2018. She is one of the two first Native American women to be elected to Congress, both of whom are Democrats. Haaland is a former chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico .
