DUANE ULLOM, City Clerk Treasurer
I have been a Democrat since I began voting. I believe the values of the Democratic Party best represent the interest of the majority of the American population, especially those of the lower and middle class income group.
The Democratic philosophies of better education, higher wages for workers, and civil rights for everyone have always been important to me. And these principals are extremely important in this day and age, given the actions of our current political leaders. I retired from teaching science at Lewis Cass High School. I taught biology and other sciences for 37 years. I also coached for thirty years, being involved with football, wrestling and softball. I have been a Lewis Cass Association Building Representative and a member of the teacher's union bargaining team for six years. I was also a past president and six year board member of the Galveston Little League. I am a three-year member and current president of the Logansport Parks and Recreation Board.
As Clerk Treasurer of Logansport, I am making all city transactions transparent. I will work with the City Council, city executives, and department heads to maintain an appropriate city budget. I work to maintain the best health insurance possible for city employees. We have a goal to update our computer systems to make them more efficient for maintaining and accessing data for our employees and the public.
During my free time I enjoy running, biking, fishing, and hunting. And I love to spend time with my grandson.
JAKE LeDONNE, Logansport City Council President
A genuine openness to all people is why I identify with the Democrat Party. I believe it's important to hear the opinions of all. It's important for people to feel included, where no one feels left out of discussions that determine the future of our city.
My focus as a councilman is to bring renewable resource projects to the area and the jobs they support.
In my free time, I enjoy being in the company of family and friends.
DAVE MORRIS, City Council Ward 1
As a child my grandmother Georgia Olson was very involved in the Democrat party and she was the vice chairman of the Cass County Democrats. She taught me that it was important to be involved and that together we can make a difference. She believed that everyone mattered and that we are only as strong as our weakest link. That is what I believe it means to be a Democrat.
As a councilman I am chairman of the Public Utilities Committee. Our committee has worked closely with the Utilities Service Board.
Accomplishments include an agreement between the city and Logansport Municipal Utilities to convert all current street lighting to LED within three years, saving the city thousands of dollars.
We established a solar committee which agreed to purchase power from a proposed 10 milliwatt solar field to be constructed west of Holland Street.
I worked as a letter carrier for the Logansport Post Office for 35 yrs. retiring in 2014.
My wife Julie and I have seven children, 10 grandchildren and a great granddaughter, with whom we spend a lot of time. Hobbies include running, gardening (love flowers), traveling, and doing volunteer work.
LARRY HOOD , City Council Ward 2
AMY DENSBORN, City Council Ward 3
I have always been a very proud Democrat. Democrats are working class voters who want to roll their sleeves up and get work done. Democrats support each other and the community. Democrats are inclusive, inviting all to be among their membership regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Democrats believe that the creation of wealth and the pursuit of happiness are the rights of everyone in the community and not just the privileged few at the top. I feel my late father stated it best while discussing politics a few months before his passing. He said “Amy, is there another party?” For me and my family, there is no other party.
I am most proud of my efforts to make Logansport a more sustainable city. Together with my colleagues, I have worked on a number of initiatives to improve the sustainability of our city for the present and set for a more prosperous future. Examples include:
I am a science teacher at Lewis Cass High School. The subjects I teach are biology, earth space science and advanced placement environmental science. I am also the proud coach of the Lewis Cass Middle School Cross Country Team.
SCOTT PEATTIE, City Council Ward 4
I am a Democrat because I am a blue collar worker and former union member. Since President Franklin Roosevelt, Democrats have worked to better the lives of people like me. I've been fortunate to have worked and served with some great Democrats, including three term mayor Gene Monahan.
Since joining the City Council, I've been honored to be a part of improving Logansport by supporting businesses and our city departments. I've led efforts to reduce littering at Riverside Park and Logan Tire. I worked with the Logansport Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources to increase patrols and curb littering along the the Eel River. As a result, littering citations have been drastically reduced.
I retired from Logansport Municipal Utilities after 33 1/2 years. My free time is dedicated to the City Council, Emmaus Mission Center, and working as security at Purdue Athletics. The rest is spent fishing.
CARL McPHERSON, City Council Ward 5
I believe each person, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation deserves equal respect and equal rights to pursue a meaningful life. I believe we are responsible for each other.
I was born and went to school in Logansport. I attended McNees University on a track scholarship and earned a master's degrees in administration and supervision.
After working at Purdue University, I was project director of the Electronic Benefit Transfer under Gov. Evan Bayh. Afterwords, I was supervisor of finance under Governor Frank O’Bannon.
I've served on the City of Logansport's Board of Public Works and was appointed board Emergency Management Agency Cass County.
Logansport is a great city and I believe with non-partisan cooperation we can make it even better. We need to keep focusing on safety for all our residents and listen to those who have different ideas. If we use our resources wisely, we can get a lot accomplished.
My wife, Linda, and I enjoy spending time with our four children and nine grandchildren.
STEVE CLARY, Eel Township Advisory Board
As an Eel Township Advisory Board member, I've helped review budget items and claims. As a board, we help make and approve of expenditures and donations.
I feel I relate to the Democratic Party the most because it represents the roll-up-your-sleeves and get the job done attitude. Democrats focus on the needs of the people of this country and are not afraid of the fight it may take to meet those needs.
